About the event

Presented by Joan Pierce (Mass. Dept. of Fish & Game) and Nick Anderson (West Bridgewater Open Space & Recreation Committee).

Ms. Pierce has been the Mass. Fish & Games Land Acquisition Agent in the SE District for almost 25 years. She first became aware of Skim Milk bridge around 2014, by a video of Kitty Doherty and a group of Americorp volunteers who were clearing portions the Bay Circuit Trail leading to the bridge. In June of 2018, Mass DFG acquired property along the town river which gave them ownership of 75% of the bridge. Since then, she has been working to put the bridge and 2 culverts on the National Register.

Mr. Anderson has been blazing the trails through West Bridgewater's conservation land, Reynolds Landing, to the original site of Comfort Willis' bridge following what is believed to be a portion of the old road. Nick has been an active member of the West Bridgewater Open Space and Recreation Committee for many years.

This event consists of trail walks to both bridges. Meet at Reynolds Landing on Ash St for Comfort Willis to start and the trail head on Maple St for Skim Milk Bridge to follow.

Trails have roots and are uneven in spots. Dress with appropriate footwear and for being outdoors in wooded areas.

Each bridge is 1/4 to 1/2 mile from parking.
